This book is about a boy growing up during the Great
Depression. For him it was a very confusing and a frustrating time, 1922
through 1939.
He married
at age 18 (still married to the same lady after
69 years); worked in canneries,
drove trucks. Life was interrupted for the infantry in World War II. He
received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
This story
says that regardless of handicaps put on an individual early in life, with a
lot of determination and hard work a person can overcome his early life
handicaps.
A few
teenagers feel that they have tough times today. Some drop out of school and
mess up their lives. My advice is to study hard! Get that diploma! Today's job
market place wants that piece of paper.
